ZIS - Integrale Studien / Center for Integral Studies

The Center for Integral Studies – Zentrum für Integrale Studien (ZIS)

Director: Dr. Marc G. Lucas

Locum: Dr. Jürgen Deeg

The studies at our center are related to practice in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary way.

Based on the integral approach highly qualified practical experts and scholars coming from a wide field of disciplines - like psychology, pedagogics, social studies, medical and business studies – cooperate by exchanging about diverse issues of practical research, teaching and implementation.

The integral approach represents a broad heuristic which tries to develop an encompassing view of the human being and the universe by integrating and implementing the most different kinds of knowledge and concepts of research.

Thus the integral approach basically provides a systematic model to explain complex systems in a holonistic way. Our concept presumes that the human being possesses not only personal but also transpersonal abilities and forms of perception which are already at work in the developing of increasingly complex social systems. These transpersonal capabilities should be used more effectively in the future.

So the integral studies do not longer aim to examine the existing theoretical concepts in order to choose the "right one". Our challenge is rather to find out in which specific context all these concepts in their totality could be seen as "right" and to discover the correlations which may exist between these diverse theoretical approaches and points of view.

With the help of new concepts like the methodological triangulation we come to deeper insights in the nature of self-developing systems and are able to represent them in a systematic form. For that purpose a methodical approach, the model of the four quadrants, levels, lines, states and types, has been created which enables an integral practice of research and application.

All the activities at the ZIS aim to make these insights useful for individuals as well as for groups, organizations and the society in general. We try to reach this goal by communicating the results of our integral researches in form of theoretical seminars as well as practice related workshops, coaching and consulting. Therefore the institute cooperates with selected partners and organizations.

We invite researchers and practical experts to take part in our exchange and would gladly provide you with detailed information.
